Hayward Plyler

12/22/08 I received an email today from Heyward's neice letting me know that he has passed away. He had battled lung cancer and declining health for the last 6-9 months and finally lost the fight today. Keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers and keep his memory alive.

Hayward raced around the Piedmont area of NC for his entire career. Moving up from the "semi-modified" ranks to the Sportsman ranks, he became a leading dirt track driver. Legend has it that Ralph Earnhardt helped teach him how to drive on dirt at the Twin City Speedway.
